Carrom is the free carrom board game in your browser. Flick the striker from your base line, send coins into the four corner pockets, and pocket the red queen and cover her with one of your own. The coins slide, click and bounce off the frame the way they do on a real board, so every stroke is yours to judge.

Play the computer at five levels from Rookie to Master, a friend on one device, doubles with partners opposite, or Freestyle for three or four. Online, Create a room gives a six-letter code to send, Join a room takes a friend's code, and Quick match finds another player. Rooms hold doubles and watchers, and friendly emoji are the only chat.

Alone, there is a practice board where you can move any coin, six First Strike lessons, Find the Shot puzzles with a hint ladder, trick shots with a Night Board pack, a Daily Target and Clear the Board against a 60 second clock. Nothing is for sale: every striker plays the same, and new boards and strikers unlock with stars.

How to play carrom here

  1. Choose a game: Carrom (white against black, with the queen), Freestyle (every coin scores: white 20, black 10, the queen 50) or Disc Pool (your colour, no queen). For Carrom pick Casual or Pro rules, then play the computer, a friend or online.
  2. Slide the striker along your base line with the slider under the board. It cannot sit on a coin, and it must stay between the two base circles.
  3. Drag anywhere on the board to turn the aim. The short guideline shows the first coin you will hit; use the fine-aim arrows or the arrow keys with Shift for small steps, and the aim lock to keep your line while you set power.
  4. Pull back from the striker and let go to shoot, or hold the Hold to shoot button and release. Let go early to cancel; the ring and the number show the power.
  5. Pocketing one of your own coins keeps your turn. Pocket the queen only after one of your coins, then cover her by pocketing another of yours in the same stroke or the next, or she goes back to the centre.
  6. Pocketing the striker is a foul: one of your pocketed coins goes back to the centre, or a due is owed until you pocket one. Your last coin before the queen is covered is also a foul.
  7. The board ends when one side has pocketed all of its coins with the queen covered. The winner scores one point for each coin the other side has left, plus three for a queen they covered.

Controls

Slide the striker with the slider or the left and right arrow keys, drag on the board to aim, pull back from the striker and let go to shoot, or hold the Hold to shoot button or Space. H shows a hint, R replays the last stroke and E opens the emoji online.

A real board, true sizes

The board, pockets, coins and striker follow the official carrom sizes, with pieces drawn a little bigger by default so they are easy to see and hit on a phone (one switch turns tournament size back on). Coins slow down, click into each other and bounce off the frame the same way on every screen.

Fair to everyone

There is no shop and no striker upgrades, so nobody can buy a better aim. The guideline is the same for every player, the computer sees only the board you see, and online the room checks every stroke and promises the toss before the game starts.

Your rules, your table

Casual rules keep it friendly, Pro follows the official laws, and every house rule can be changed: break tries, the cover, dues, how returned coins are placed, the set-up turn, the doubles order, back shots, big pockets and the shot clock.

Tips for pocketing more coins

  • Aim where the striker must touch the coin, not at the coin itself: the striker has to arrive on the line from the coin to the pocket.
  • Use less power than you think. A soft stroke keeps the striker on the board and away from the pockets.
  • Clear your coins near the pockets early, and leave the queen until you can cover her.
  • A back shot from behind your base line can reach a coin that is blocked from the front.
  • Use the frame: a rebound off the side sends a coin into a pocket you cannot reach directly.
  • Watch the replay after a miss. The replay button or the R key shows the stroke again, and a second tap shows it at half speed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play carrom online for free here?

Yes. Every mode is free: the computer at all five levels, pass and play, online rooms, Quick match, lessons, puzzles, trick shots, the Daily Target and the Cup. There is nothing to buy and no sign-up.

How do I play carrom against the computer?

Choose Carrom, pick Casual or Pro rules, then Play the computer and a level from Rookie to Master. You break first after a fair toss; pocket your coins, take the queen after one of yours and cover her.

Does the computer cheat?

No. The computer sees the same board you do, with the same pieces and the same frame. Lower levels aim less precisely and misjudge power more often; it never gets better luck.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Pass and play shares one device for two players, doubles with partners opposite, or Freestyle for three or four, and the board turns to whoever plays. Online, Create a room gives a six-letter code and friends can join or watch.

What carrom rules are used?

Casual rules are the friendly ones most apps use; Pro follows the official carrom laws in plain words. Every house rule can be changed in Settings, and How to play explains each mode.

What are Freestyle and Disc Pool?

In Freestyle any coin scores for the player who pockets it (white 20, black 10, the queen 50 once a coin follows her), and the first to the target wins. Disc Pool has no queen: pocket all of your colour first.

Is there a daily challenge?

Yes. The Daily Target is one shot a day, the same for everyone, with unlimited tries, a first-try badge and a share card that gives nothing away.

Can I stop and finish a game later?

Yes. A game against the computer or a friend on one device is saved in this browser after every stroke, and the menu offers Continue. The exit button asks whether to keep the game, end it or play on.
