Solitaire Safar is classic Klondike solitaire, the card game most people simply call solitaire or patience. The deck is dealt into seven piles and a stock, and your goal is to build all four suits from Ace to King on the foundations. It is free in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with no download and no sign up, and the table fits your screen without scrolling.

Winnable deals are on from the start. Before a deal reaches you, a solver checks it with every card visible and keeps it only if it finds a way to win within its search limit. Deals it cannot settle are skipped, never promised. Every shuffle comes from your browser's secure random numbers, and the deal number shows on the table, so a shared link opens exactly the same cards.

When you get stuck, Hint lights the best move and says why, and undo and redo have no limit. If a game is lost, the solver looks back for the last point where the deal could still be won and offers Retry from there. You also get a daily deal, statistics and a streak kept on your device, a four-colour deck, a left-handed layout and Felt, Midnight or Paper tables.

How to play Klondike Solitaire

  1. Seven piles of one to seven cards are dealt with only the top card of each face up, and the other 24 cards form the stock.
  2. Build the piles down in alternating colours, like a red 6 on a black 7; a face-up card moves together with the cards on top of it.
  3. A face-down card turns over as soon as it is uncovered, and only a King, or a run that starts with a King, can fill an empty pile.
  4. Tap the stock to turn one card, or three in Draw 3, onto the waste; only the top waste card can be played.
  5. When the stock is empty, tap it again to turn the waste back over; Settings can limit how many passes you get.
  6. Start each foundation with an Ace and build it up by suit, in order from Ace to King.
  7. You win when all 52 cards reach the foundations, and once every card is face up, the Finish button plays the rest for you.

Controls

Tap or click a card to send it to its best pile (tap again for another pile), or drag it where you want it. Tap the stock to turn cards. Keyboard: arrows move between cards, Enter picks up and places, Space turns the stock, and U, R, H and N are undo, redo, hint and new deal.

Winnable deals you can trust

With Winnable deals on, the standard setting, a solver checks each deal before you see it and keeps it only if it finds a winning line within a budget of 30,000 positions. Deals it cannot settle in that budget are skipped rather than promised, so you never get a guess dressed up as a guarantee. The shuffle itself comes from a secure random generator, and you can switch to fully random deals in Settings.

Hints that explain why

Hint does more than point at a legal move. It lights the card and where it should go, then tells you why: a card ready for the foundation, a move that turns over a hidden card, or a King for an empty pile. Hints only use the cards you can see. After a lost game, the solver finds the last point where the deal could still be won and offers Retry from there.

A daily deal to share

Each day brings one daily deal, built from the date so everyone on the same draw setting gets the same cards, and always one the solver has proven winnable. Your daily streak stays on your device. Win any deal and the result card shows your time, moves and score, and Share copies a link that opens exactly the same deal for a friend, with no account needed.

Tips to win at Solitaire

  • When you have a choice, pick the move that turns over a face-down card, since every hidden card you free gives you more options.
  • Work on the tallest piles early, because they hide the most face-down cards.
  • Only empty a pile when a King is ready to move into it, as nothing else can fill an empty space.
  • Send Aces and Twos to the foundations straight away, but think before moving higher cards up; you may need them on the table, and a foundation card can come back down if you do.
  • Make every useful move on the table before turning the stock, especially in Draw 3, where each turn changes which cards you can reach.
  • Undo has no limit, so try a line and step back if it goes nowhere, or practise in Thoughtful mode, where every card is dealt face up.

Frequently asked questions

Is Solitaire Safar free to play?

Yes. It is free in your browser, with no download, no sign up and nothing to buy.

Is every game of solitaire winnable?

No. Research puts the share of Klondike deals that can be won, by a player who knows where every card is, at about 82 percent. With Winnable deals on, Solitaire Safar only deals games its solver has found a way to win, though a hidden card can still lead you down the wrong path.

What is the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?

Draw 1 turns one card from the stock at a time, so you can reach every card on each pass. Draw 3 turns three and only the top one can be played, which makes it harder. You choose before each new deal.

How does the daily deal work?

The daily deal is built from the date, so everyone on the same draw setting gets the same cards, and it is always a deal the solver has proven winnable. Your daily streak is kept on your device.

Does the game save my progress?

Yes. Your game, time and deal are saved on your device after every move, so you can reload or come back later and carry on. Your settings and statistics stay on your device too.

Can I undo a move?

Yes, as many times as you like, and you can redo moves as well. Undo and redo do not add to your move count.

Does the timer keep running when I look away?

No. The clock runs only while the game is on screen and pauses when you switch tabs or open the menu. You can also hide it in Settings.

Is solitaire the same as patience?

Yes. Patience is the British name for card games you play on your own, and Klondike, the game in Solitaire Safar, is the one most people mean by solitaire.
